There are multiple groups within the Michigan Engineering and greater University of Michigan community dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities through education, advocacy, community and more. Discover how you can engage with these efforts to help create a welcoming environment for all.

University of Michigan Groups

Digital Accessibility Community 

The U-M Disability Accessibility Community is a community of practice (formerly known as the Web Accessibility Working Group) dedicated to sharing digital accessibility best practices and strategies to eliminate digital barriers.

This group holds optional Zoom meetings from 1:00-2:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. They connect in the meantime by sharing tips and tricks via email.

Council for Disability Concerns (CfDC)

The University of Michigan Council for Disability Concerns (CfDC) works towards creating a community that respects disability, honors individual needs, and makes everything accessible. Anyone is welcome to participate in the Council.

This group holds optional Zoom meetings from 12:00-1:00 p.m. EST on the second Tuesday of each month.

Disability Culture @ U-M (DC @ UM)

A place for U-M students, staff, faculty, alumni and allies to build prideful community centering disability culture, including disability as it intersects with other identities.

This group holds optional Zoom meetings from 5:15-6:15 p.m. EST on the third Wednesday of each month.
